There is one word to describe the current economic conditions at the Lake ? GROWTH!
School enrollments, building permits, traffic counts, and the general population have all increased dramatically within the last few years. The Lake of the Ozarks now offers many employment opportunities due to enormous industry growth. Local banks are building community branches to accommodate growing businesses. New medical offices are opening up in various convenient locations. Retail and outlet stores continue to prosper. Recently, HyVee, Chili's, Applebee's, Casey's, the new Super Wal-Mart, Walgreen's, and Bandana's BBQ have opened. Commercial business is booming. The Lake is a great place to create a second location for an existing business or to start a new business.
Recently, many people are choosing to work from home offices. With advances in the Internet and numerous telecommunication devices, self-employment is becoming big business at the Lake.
With buying property at the lake, as well as building a new home, property prices are steadily increasing but are distinctively lower than other resort communities. No matter what type of housing you are looking for, you are bound to get more for your money at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The lake area's chambers of commerce can help in getting new businesses on the right track. They work closely together and with the Convention and Visitor's Bureau to keep area businesses thriving. They provide demographic information for businesses and they can help establish P.O. boxes, cable services, and obtain other various licenses or permits.
